The switch I bought for my shower had the wires for the neon light hard wired in by the manufacturer, with the light staying permenantly on. I took it back to where i bought it from and had it changed . The new switch did exactly the same, ( light stayed on ) I had to cut the wires and rewire it myself to the output side. Made sure the circuit breaker was OFF first. I wonder if this was part of a bad batch of switches.

the switch sounds like its wired the wrong way round . this causes the neon to be lit permanently . have the polarity checked as soon as possible. ie live is in the live and neutral in the neutral terminals. polarity is vital .

There are 2 sets of connections inside the unit - input and output. The indicator lamp should be on the output side so it switches with the shower.
Check that you haven't got the connections the wrong way round.
