I've got a hayterette that has been fitted with a normal blade, it came to me like that with a very sick 3.5hp classic briggs and stratton, I have a good quantum 3.5 hp engine that fits the deck perfectly but the quantum has a larger diameter output shaft, so I'm scouting for a long reach boss with the bigger hole size.

If that's the rough-cutter with 4 wheels and no power drive, then yes BUT there may be an issue with the length of the crankshaft. With any other mower, you could compensate by changing the blade boss, but as this mower has a disc blade, that option is out.
