you said you replaced the plug BUT YOU SAID THAT BOTH THE PLUG AND SOCKET HAD BURNED OUT could the socket outlet be faulty, try TESTING the machine using another socket outlet and extension lead to see if electrics trip, machine maybe installed on its own circuit (RADIAL)in a newish house. if ok POWER OFF and replace the socket outlet that served the washer.
