passenger door wont open?

My rover 25 front passenger door won't open, have got the panel off as much has i can the rod is still in place but i still cant get the door unlocked. Can anyone help me

hi try spaying with release oil the part of the lock that the handel is connected to because if it is not returning this will not alow the lock to open
