broken petrol flap on a 57 reg ford focus?

take the rear wheel off plus the wheel arch, to get to the mechanism move the spring at the same time open the fuel flap.i have had a simmilar problem replaced the unit £25.00 check ebay for breaking focus and go from there

I have the same problem! I am stuck with a Ford Focus (55) on my drive with no petrol in it and no way of opening the flap. Ford want £44.60 just to "look at it". I would be grateful if anyone knows why this has happened and how I get to open it to be able to put petrol in it! More's the point, is this likely to happen again, I could be miles from home and the fuel flap may not open again leaving me stranded. I have lost faith in what was otherwise a reliable car.
