I assume you've checked all wiring and mains fuse/s including MCB panel. Does the green switch neon light up?. even if it does it could be faulty in that it's not transfering the current to the otherside of the switch. Take it out disconnet wires and put it across a tester.
The element may look ok but may have broken down internally find a local service centre or shop that sells electric cookers etc and ask them if they can test the element, of course testing may cost.
Tip:
When dismantling anything take digi pictures before and during dismantling so you know where all parts go when re-assembling. That way you won't be saying oh! this bits over where the b....hell did that go.
