Obviously the repairers should have made a better job, but if you are going to have a go at it yourself, check all connections but fault is probably the backlight tube(s) behind the LCD panel

I agree that the repairers should fix it properly, but you could check Control Panel/Display (and Power Options) to see if it is a simple adjustment.

Sounds like you have had it repaired and the repairers have not put it back together properly - send it back and tell them to fix it.

i have an ibm thinkpad t30 does the same thing now and again, mine has a loose connection from the screen to the motherboard or a faulty cable or connector if its stilll in warrenty send it back its not an easy job to do at home
