Mend Thetford Toilet Inside

Thetford cassette toilet manual flush?

The manual flush has lost pressure, i assume something has come adrift inside the tank, is the tank removable there are two screws by the flush handle but i can not see any others, i don't want to force it any ideas?? The manual shows an exploded picture but not any fixing points. Thanks

Just to note a variation... a similar problem, but there were no securing screws on our Thetford... the pump knob simply pried off, and the pump body was a "snap" fit into the housing.
Once I took a deep breath and pulled it out... sure enough, the intake hose had fallen off and was floating in the tank... :-)
No sign of any clips, so a previous owner may have removed them.

When you press the flush and turn the handle there is no water coming out

Further to my comments, the rubber valve was fitted the wrong way round when supplied, had to fit it correctly. NEED TO WATCH THIS as it won't work the wrong way round!

Had to replace the retaining clip on our pump as one of the lugs had broken off. Obtained replacement very quickly, but broke off the lug when fitting it!! Used the plastic strap method to repair it and can recommend it. It won't fall apart again!!! The Thetford part is very poor really but its all they make!!

Remove the 2 screws under the handle, then the 4 screws below that securing the pump in place. (Sealer a bit messy). Remove the pump assembly complete. One of the clips at the bottom will have snapped causing gap and lack of pressure. File away the remainder of the broken clip. Fix a nylon tie fiirmly round the botttm of the tube, then put another tie around that, over where the broken clip was, thus holding the whole thing together.
I've just done it, and the pump unit is firmer than its ever been.
The local dealer wanted £25 for new pump assembly. All it cost me was 2 plastic ties !!!

Slobbyk and Tony J, thanks for your advice, I did not know how to access the pump assembly and did not want to force it and break it. worked a treat. cheers.

Had the same loss of pressure. After reading comments above, I removed the two screws under the handle, pulled the whole assembly partially out out (you may have to disturb/remove the sealant around the handle assembly) then take out the further 4 screws that are attached to the unit. With a bit of jiggling about the whole pump (part number 23739) comes out. Like others mine was broken at the bottom where the retaining clips had snapped the bracket. Thetford don't sell parts, they gave me the number for Miriad Products, (01283 586 060 ) I've ordered the part today 15/08/08, they said I'll have it by Thursday. Cost £18.64 + vat + P&P. Whilst the flush tank was accessible SWMBO was able to clean it out of all the black mould that had formed and had become part of the flush water, not a nice sight! I'm hoping the the flush problem, mould, loss of pressure and slight leak at the handle on the 'up' stroke will be resolved after I've fitted the new part. Good Luck

Try contacting www.thetford.com and email them asking if they are the pump sescuring screws and what's likely gone wrong. They take their time but do reply.
