how can i fix my axe?

This happens because the wood looses moisture content and so shrinks.Get the head back on as best you can,then,holding the axe much as you would to chop,Strike the base of the shaft onto a hard surface ie end of a log while holding the shaft vertical.This action will gradually force the head back on to it's original possition.When done,to stop a repeat,you have to soak the wood in water or preferably linseed oil.You need a container big enough for the axe to stand in upsidedown.Only an inch or so in the bottom will be enough.leave for as long as possible.All wooden handled tools should be treated this way at least once a year.This is how it used to be done.This is how so many tools survive hundred's of years and live to become collectable.
