Ryobi BC30 Ry30004A?

My Brushcutter wasn't producing full power when on high speed...so I took it apart and clceaned everything and put it back together and it ran like a champ..killed it restarted it and did my neighbors yard for him. Then when I tried to restart it acted like the motor was locked up..The starter rope came part of the way out but upon taking off the spool rewound by itself.. When I reattached everything...the cable is really hard to pull or can't pull at all...any ideas

most likley locked up the engine. Maybe you forgot to put in mixed gas who knows, but these things are so cheap its better to just pony up the 100 bucks and get a nice new one.

The ryobi bc30 has 4 screws that hold the shaft housing and trigger onto another plastic housing that holds the rope pull unit. The 2nd housing has 4 screws in front, 2 screws in back, and a plastic tab on the bottom right. Place all the screws in a container so you don't lose them. First remove the shaft/trigger housing. Don't' lose the spring inside. Note its orientation when you remove it. The housing is still connected via a cable to the carborater and 2 quick disconnect wires to the engine. Note which hole the wire cable goes to: 2nd from the right. Disconnect all 3. Second, remove the clutch housing which mounts to the engine shaft. There is a screw deep in that shaft, which is quite tight. Use the correct screwdriver head (same as the housing screws). Under that housing is a clutch assembly that also must be removed. Take note of the location of all washers in the assembly. They must be re-installed correctly. The clutch housing must be re-installed tightly. The clutch unit can occassionally come apart inside the clutch housing, jamming it tight, thus making the rope hard to pull. If it is OK, go further.
Next, remove the 2nd housing. The rope pull mechanism is in that 2nd housing. Take note of the spring that rewinds the rope. Unscrew the part holding the rope. Is the rope broken or jammed; is the spring broken, or no longer attached to the housing? When you pull the rope, the spring should rewind it. Diagnose what is happening inside the puller, and fix it. Re-install in the reverse sequence,
