Mend Bought Sky Box

i need to install a digibox?

i have just bought a new pace sky digibox as my last one has been on the blink. when i physically replace the box what do i have to do to get the system up and running ( i know i need to ring sky to get subscription changed over ) as i begrudge some bloke charging me £50 for 2 minutes work. i seem to remember that you might have to plug phone line in and do signal test? help!

Just phone Sky to marry your card with your new digibox, you don't have to pay anyone anything. All the info they need is in the menu, Services/System Details.

The phone connection 'call back' feature you mentioned, is in a hidden menu. Select Services, then option 4. Then press 0, 1, Select to accesss the installers menu but it's simpler for you to just phone Sky.

After installing your new box it's also good practice to do a forced software update.
1. Turn Sky receiver on.
2. Press & hold down the back up button on the main unit.
3. While holding down back-up button, disconnect then reconnect the mains power to the receiver.
4. After about 30 secs all lights will illuminate on the receiver and a message is displayed on your TV.
5. Release the back-up button.
6. Wait for Sky receiver to return to standby. Approx 10 mins.
7. Wait a further 1 min before switching box on from standby.
8. Wait for channel listings to be refreshed. Box is then ready.
