Mend DeWalt DCD771C2 Chuck Dewalt Cordless

why open chuck wont close?

dewalt 1/2 cordless chuck held in reverse til full open, maybe to far open Now will not close , what could come apart inside and jamb? it wont come apart to see what happened

if its a keyless chuck:
grip the non rotating part in a vice
then with a large 'plummers spanner'grip the outer
and turn anticlockwise-
be careful not to overtighten the vice
if this wont release it you might need a new chuck

definetly to far.try putting the foreward/reverse switch in mid position,ie neither one nor otherthis should engage the spindle lock and give mor purchase.but i do recall one that was beyond saving and needed a new chuck.
