how to remove a link from seiko watch metal wrist band?

I used a push pin on a mousepad to push the pin out in the direction of the arrow. It took some pushing but once it was loose it came right out. I was advised by another site that the pins are different on each end. Once I took two pins out and removed a link I turned the watch over and put one pin back in the same way it came out. Knowing the up and the down of the pin is not easy so when you take it out have some way of making sure you know which way it came out so you can slide it back the same way. It wasn't that hard and removing one link made the band fit fine.

This is the way Seiko works too. If you don't have the watchmakers tool, the point of a push pin will push the pin out also. Not difficult at all.

You will find the end of pins showing on the strap. You need to push the pin out the opposite side of the strap. Do this again for the link to be removed then replace the pins. You will find that a watchmakers staking tool would make his job much easier and will not scratch the strap. Good Luck.

On the inside of the bracelet you should see that some of the links have arrow markings and if you look across to the opposite edge of the bracelet you'll see a small hole:

If you take a fine-pointed tool (a precision screwdriver, for example), insert it into that hole and apply firm pressure in the direction of the arrow, the "pin" will slide out. Once you've got the pin out you can't go far wrong.
