Repair to CD Receiver Kenwood KDC 7080R?

The battery has been disconnected during repairs to the car, but now when it is turned on the motorized front spins around to reveal the front panel but there is nothing in the display.
I have tried the reset button ,as the manual suggest, ready to use the mask key but nothing. When I press the reset button there is a sound of some action taking place.I have checked all fuses etc and checked supply to both the power and ignition feeds. The removeable front panel sems to be fine - no bent pins etc.Any suggesions on cause of problem?

The ribbon cables are available from Ebay.
Not sure about fitting though. Cable costs around £10.
There is also a repair service which is only £30.
The ribbon cable is normaly the problem with the flip front radio CD players.

I have a similar problem with my Kenwood RR-500E. I have been looking around on Google and have found that the Kenwood DMASK (flip face) units have a problem with the ribbon cable (connecting the main unit to the face plate) wearing out. Chances are the 'wires' within the cable have cracked and a good connection is no longer being made. You probably need to have the ribbon cable replaced. The part (part number is located on the cable itself) is cheap; about $10, but it could cost $75 to 100 to have someone do the work.
