I just paid $65 to find out how to fix this on my 70 series model 110 direct-drive washing machine.
I took the machine apart from the back, (wrong!), and found a spring hanging down from the tub bracket. I did not see where it had connected.
It turns out that the eyelet had rusted away on the rear frame of the machine near the floor.
The repairman drilled a new hole in the metal next to the rusted out spot, and that fixed the problem
