My car is a 53 plate Ford Focus with a 6000E system. I have just bought this car and today was tring to insert CDs into my 6 CD autochanger (the one without a magazine - just a slot in the dash.) I inserted the first CD with no problem, but when I put in the second, it made a horrible grinding noise! Now I am unable to eject or play either CD and the display is saying 'no discs'. Is there anything I can do?
Cd's inside though it reads "no discs"....Had the same problem myself with this unit.
Take the unit out, disconnect the power supply then reconnect. After you have typed in your code, It should re-set itself and it will locate the cd's.
Its even done this to me after the grinding noise you mentioned (the loading carriage). And all has worked normally after re-set.

Deb, this a known fault with this unit and Ford will sell you a new one at great cost, there is a seller on ebay that has found the solution and for I think its £50 will fix it, it need a new loading mechanism, no way round it!!

Thanks for your speedy reply! I do have the Security Keycode so will remove the unit as a last resort. What did you mean about 'teasing out' the lost cds - should I try inserting a third one and see what happens?

You can try and tease it out using another (old) CD .
If you have the Security Keycode (ask a new question here if not, quoting your serial Number beginning M****** ) then the player will have to be extracted from the dashboard( Using a pair of Extractor keys available off Ebay or Halfords etc) , the casing removed, the CD released and the operating mechanism checked.
