Mend MTD Drive Reverse Mower

lowes mtd riding lawnmower wont shift into drive or reverse?

the drive belt on my riding lawn mower popped off, i put it back on, finished mowing the lawn but the next time i went to cut the grass the lawnmower backed outy of the shop then stopped and now it wont move forward or backward. the belt is still on. what could be causing this?

Is your drive belt still spinning the pulley? I had the same problem, turned out the pulley had broken free from the teeth that mount it onto the spindle. So, although the pulley spun the spindle was not turning. Removed pulley and a quick weld job at a local shop fixed the problem.
