how do i get the needle to pick up thread ?

HELP. my old Brother sewing maching in all good mechanical order though will not pick up a stitch . How can i remedy this ?

Hello Deb,
Sounds like it has gone out of time, if you have put a new needle in and it still won't pick up that is the problem, I can attach timing instructions if you e-mail me.
