Mend Gainsborough 9.5 E Water Running Unit

Gainsborough 9.5 E?

I ve got water coming out of the outlet pipe behind the shower and running down behind the tiles, the shower unit is rusting.
Is the whole shower gash, or will just replacing the outlet pipe do the job ?
and why is the outlet pipe leaking? and whats its purpose ?

the prd is faulty useally caused by a blocked shower head or twisted hose.
