I had this happen to mine yesterday. I finally found that the problem is in the door and how to get into the latch. Having found the broken piece of plastic and the spring I drilled a hole in the first indentation above where the spring normally fits and fashioned a hook to go through the hole and end up where the spring should fit. I had to modify a couple of times as there is little room at the sides of the latch so the hook has to sit at the front of the plastic. Its been working OK for 24 hours now and I have moved the loading on the spring to a stronger part of the latch. Hope this helps some one

I have made one out of aluminium.Almost an exact copy of the cheap plastic cr*p.
Did not work. The two forks that go towards the microwave when you close the door.Must need to flex as the allie copy was way to stiff.
This latch is a design fault as it snaps at any time or temp.
I am now trying to cut out the same latch in plastic.
