Underneath the timer you will find a clip that needs to be released to remove the facia. It is positioned underneath the unit inline with the 'Days' button on the front. Use a flat bladed screwdriver to push upwards very firmly as it is tight, at the same time pull the bottom of the unit forwards, once it releases the unit will hinge upwards. Carefully hinge it fully up and the whole unit now lifts off. Beware of live terminals in the base. The battery is a 3.6v 100mAh and can be changed easily.
Replacement is a reversal of removal, but be careful with the alignment of the pins when inserting the unit. press fully down until the clip re-engages.
