removal of the sump gasket is simple enough, so long as you remember to unbolt the oil filter pipe inside the sump. this is held on with two bolts 10mm undo and gently wiggle the sump about drop down at the free end of the sump and it should slide out. remember to replace and get the correct torque settings, tighten up as if tightening a cyclinder head after replacing the gasket. this ensures that no warping of the sump occurs. if the torque settings are not applied the sump has a good chance of leaking, as I remember two difficult bolts one right up at the top corner of the sump next to gearbox, I used a combination of universal joint along with a torque key that fitted a screwdriver. its a good thingto know that on most fiats they use rive keys and not torque keys. I bought a set for around £30 retail. made by laser they are a lot better fit than the torque bits.
To ad to any advice on removal and refitting of a sump, you need patience, and preferably somone to help with just as much patience, dont hack on, the threads are soft, or youll need to chase the thread before refitting, if you strip the thread completely a set of taps to retap a larger thread, which also means a larger bolt. being careful can save lots of time and money
