lx172 mower deck installation?

RELEASE the mower deck lever at Left Front of mower that secures the mowing deck.

Release BELT TENSIONER on mowing deck itself which is also on the left side. This should release the pressure on the two fan belts. Now remove the top belt by hand.

Remove both of the rear pins holding the deck to the bottom rear of tractor. These are spring loaded and it helps to use pliers to pull out.

Slide deck out from under the mower and install the new belt on the mower deck. You will need to remove three bolts and remove one cover. Also, will need to release the spring load to get belt on. Note that the three outer pulleys have the belt in the “inside” while the one interior pulley has the belt on the “outside”.

Do not reconnect mower tensioner yet as it will need to stay in the released position until you mount back on the tractor and also go ahead and install the top belt while everything is still loose.

Slide deck back under mower and install at the rear first with tensioner released on moving deck. If it is tightened, it will not install properly. This can really waste time so don’t make that mistake.

Once both of the mounts at the rear are in place, install the front using the tensioner on mowing deck to lock position. Mowing deck is now fully secured.

Now, be sure to secure the mowing deck tensioner back in the locked position so all belts are now securely tightened.
