How can I fix my Dishwasher Kleenmaid Brandt DW10W?

My Dishwasher was in the middle of a load of washing.

I noticed that it was not doing anything - except making a low humming sound - the 'wash in progress' light was on. I noticed a smell coming from the dishwasher - similar to if you burn plastic on an element.

When I opened the dishwasher - there was some water pooling in the bottom - none of the dishes were clean.

I have tried to flush the hose by adding more water into the disher - the water does not drain out.

If I turn the dishwasher on and off - I get the light 'Wash in Progress' on and the humming noise.

What is wrong? Can I fix it?

I am 'guessing?' that the hose has blocked and then the pump has burnt out - but really am no handy woman... advise would be great.
