How can i make my monitor switch of automatically?

My desktop Pc monitor will not switch itself onto standby even though i have changed the settings in the control panel. Can anyone help?

The way i do it is....right click on the desktop-PROPERTIES-SCREEN SAVER-near bottom -POWER...power schemes ..always on ,turn off moniter ..after 20mins..turn off hard disks...never.Mine goes blank into standby after 20mins of no activity on keyboard or mouse.
