Mend Kenmore Elite 30 Seconds Shuts

How can I fix my Kenmore Elite Microwave Oven?

The microwave runs for 30 seconds and then shuts itself off and the Code F-9 shows up. What does the F-9 refer to and is it a problem that can easily be fixed?

Hey, mine just started doing this out of the blue last night also, and I too just bought it not quite two years ago.

Did either of you get it fixed by cleaning the latch?

Every manufacturer I found that had a F-9 code it was a door latch fault. It is very important for a microwave oven to seal properly at the door as the oven emits microwaves that could be harmful to humans over a period.
I would take a good look at the latch, make sure it is not broken or loose, and make sure it is free from debris both on the latch and inside the door where the latch bar is.
