Getting the screwdriver out did the trick! as you look at the front of the machine took off thr right side panel. This exposes a large lump of triangular shaped concrete held on by a screw- remove screw lump slides up and out.
This allows better access to the flow through heater ( no element in this beast just this small flow through made by Bleckmann - 230vac - 2100watt.(this is a german made bit of kit and the companies web site comes with pictures an all - but thats all theyll give you- would have to say they were rapid in their response but directed me back to zanussi and lots of pounds!)
If you lay the machine back looking in from the bottom up youll find the thermostat above this heater up on the right, it will probably be obscured by some black foam padding its quite tricky to see and to get to but it looks like a brass coloured hexagonal screw with a small white coloured tube with two terminals which should have two thin red wires attached.
Other than that theres not much else in the way of hardware that can go wrong. (i since found out that the sales of these two parts are few and far between so initially look elsewhere for your problem) I took both of these off and tested them with an electric meter.
The thermostat i connected up the terminals to the meter and placed the screw end in a cup of kettle boiled water the reading on the meter dropped quite quickly indicating that it was ok! I connected the terminals on the heater to the meter and got a reading of about 25.9 ohms which is bang on for a 2100watt unit so this was ok.
I put everything back where i found it and opened the door of the machine and unscrewed the six screws at the top edge of the door panel which allows the door handle bit and the buttons to slide out as one. What i found was this, some of the wires that connect to the PCB unit (white box on right) especially the one that contains four thin red wires (the same size of red wires that go to the thermostat) were slightly loose and i mean slightly. I pushed these home and bingo the machine lives!! Long road for a shortcut but i now know this machine inside out. P.S all spare parts can be obtained via Electrolux web site via your local spares contractor thermostat £8.00 Heater approx. £40.
