Both of the below methods will work as a quick fix. The best way to sort the problem, is to change the o ring for a new one, which will restore full function.

HI
SO I'm not alone in swearing at Ms200 carbs. Before buying a new carb, try lifting the needle about 2mm. THis has worked for me assuming everything else is air/petrol tight.
Let me know how you get on.

There is a little piston in there with an oring on it, when you rev it,it pushes a little squirt of fuel straight in to the vortex of the carb, the oring wears out and let's air in when it shouldn't that's why you can't adjust it and nothing has the desired effect with screws.
The reason sthil have done this is due to emissions, the saws are running as weak as possible and need this to accelerate fast.
If you look at the back of the carb there is a oval little inverted cap, behind this is a canal to the piston, if you use a blunt punch and tap the cover into the canals without puncturing it , it will block this off, solving the problem, reduced acceleration is barley noticeable, especially if you have been tortured by this problem!
Saw going bluuurr bluuur when you rev it , not idling properly, obviously clean carb properly first may just have muck in it!
Hope this helps someone

I have a 200T that will start and idle fine but when i hit the throttle it dies. Is this a carb problem or a crankcase problem or something else? I love the 200T so i want it fixed the 201's are no match.

WHere can i buy more 200T's in good condition?

The symptoms described can be attributed to: Crankcase bearing seals worn out -letting air into the crankcase. Split rubber carb. manifold or the rubber pipe next to it which activates the diaphragm in the carb. Loose cylinder retaining screws - letting air into the crankcase. Worn carb. diaphragm (unusual). Blockage in the carb. itself ( under the little needle). Blockage in the fuel pick-up inside the tank. Blocked tank breather (unusual). If you check all of the above and find no problems then it is a new carb. or new saw I'm afraid.

the other thing to try is to clean the silencer of carbon,as this blocks the exit of the silencer acting as a flap causing a buildup of backpressure, the saw will run at top revs if u can get it started but will not idle.

Check you have no dirt stuck under the needle inside the carb and the diaghram for harding or damage and keep the air filter clean plus change the spark plug at lease once every four months.

I too have had your problems. The folks who repair all of the saws, trimmers, mowers, etc for a large midwestern city parks department say it's the carb. They've tried everything, and say the only way is to buy a new carb. They did this for me and the new carb is slightly different. I've had this problem with a Stihl string trimmer, as well as an MS210 chain saw.

I have had a T200 for years and loved it, about a year ago I replaced it with a new ms200t. I have spent hours on trying different carb adjustments but with no luck. When I take it to the shop, they say its the carb adjustment - runs great for about an hour then the same problems, won't idle, when I hold throatle, it screams but after warming up it cuts out. It's beem a real problem tool - sure not like the old T200.

Mark, where did you buy the 71 dollar new carb from? I have been searching the web and can't find a ms200t carb anywhere.

i have your(my) problem all figured out-its not your carb settings-b/c no setting combination works, and its not the type of gas your using-b/c even 121 octane airplane fuel doesnt cure the problem-its a design flaw that shows up just asyou describe-a new carb kit does not cure the problem-i have spoken personally to a stihl mechanic who is at a loss on how to fix the faulty carb short of ordering a new one-i have tried all the stuff above-nothing worked-i bought a 71 dollar new carb-problem solved-just as my mechanic buddy said. he has run into same carb problem he states atleast a dozen times.

When it cuts out when you try to raise the RPM, if you let go of the throttle will it stay running at the idle? You may have a fleck of something in the carb itself. It sounds like the carburetor is starving for fuel when the is demanding it.
