Why would the oil pressure stay pegged out (80 psi) even @ idle?

04 Chevy Silveraldo 4.8 with 85000 miles.

faulty or jamed oil pressure release valve/faultyor incorrect filter ond oil ,renew oil filter drain and refill with flushing oil drain and refill withh correct grade of oil .if no change renew oilpressure regulator.ALL THIS PRESUMES THAT UR OIL PRESSURE GAUGE IS READING RIGHT
