Renault clio immobilser nightmare?

Hi i jus bought my 1st car, renault clio 97 semi auto,(gears no clutch){don't ask} anyway, my immobiliser is cutting the car out when i am in traffic, its mainly when i going 1st to 2nd gear, stoppng and starting, think its why the car went up for sale, i got it for 900euro and apart from that proble i think i got a bargain, 70,000 on the clock,can i disable the immobiliser?it has to be NCT'ed soon, but i don't think i will lastthat long, its fime when i moving, just the bunmper to bumper times it cuts out, PLEASE help in any way you can,

Hi

My clio done the same. If you disconnect the engine for a couple of seconds then reconnect. Then whilst sitting in the car (leave the door open). Press and hold the button on your key for about 30 seconds whilst pointing it at the sensor in the car. I done this and have had no problems since.

I had a similar problem with my Renault clio. Was advised my the RAC to get a new transponder key which you can get from some local locksmiths for around £30 to £50. My car has been running fine ever since. Apparently it is a problem with the immobiliser kicking in whilst driving.

Are you sure its the immobilser that is causing the problem , you need to see what is happening when this fault happens ,ie
are you loosing all electrics or is the engine just cutting out ,
or does the engine cut when you leave it to idle for a while or ist when the car is moving due to engine movement there might be a earth fault , or if it is just cutting out it could be the stepper motor , you need to try and find in which area the fault is happening so you can find the cause,you need to carry out some diagnosis , hope that helps .
