How do i get the top off my ideal standard push button toilet ?

I have no idea how to get the lid off the ideal standard push button toilet i have do i have to take the buttons out first the toilets not filling back up, before this happened the toilet would'nt stop filling up can anyone help please help.

the buttons should unscrew from the top grasp the inner part first and turn the outer ring anti clockwise
