briggs&stratton 4hp max engine pull cord broke?

Hi there. can any one help, the pull cord on my 1988 model b&s max engine has broke, does anyone know how to replace the cord as it looks as though the top as to be taken off the engine. any help would be apreciated.

If the starter assembly is a part of the blower housing, or it is rivited on, then the whole cowling does need to come off. Once all the plastic covers are removed, it's only 4 bolts. It IS possible to replace the rope without completely dismantling the starter, but it's fiddly.
