se w900i cant access menu or anything?

hi.. right on the se w900i you have call button at the left side and menu button at the right, the menu button now says ticker... and i now cant access any of the menus, above the call button there is a small red x and a scrolling message saying welcome ready to receive messages.... i can recieve calls but nothing else... i thought that it might need reflashing or something but im not sure i dont wanna have to pay and send it off as it was on contract but hasnt been for over 12mths and i cant even do a master reset as i dont how to or where to.. i have done the update service but that didnt make a difference.. anyone have any clues
