I am fixing an '88 Superchief that had sagging headliner. I ended up ripping out the old headliner and scraping and sanding the surface. Then I bought headliner fabric and spray adhesive. The trim strips that run across can be pried loose and snapped back in place after the new headliner is glued in place. The trim strips along the wall can't be pulled loose, there is a piece of plastic that goes behind the wall panel that prevents this. I didn't put headliner inside the cabinets either(it still looked ok). Where the headliner meets the walls and cabinets, I'm going to put wood molding strips that I'm going to cut to size. It looks really good so far, and I recommend trying to go this route.
