How to replace door hinge on Creda simplicity 1000?

The door hinge has snapped on my Creda Simplicity 1000.
How can I replace it without the plate on the back of the hinge falling inside the machine?

There is huge round hole in the bottom of the machine, lay the machine on its side if possible, take out the flange that fell down and hold it up to the hinge position on the inside while someone else secures screws and door hinge.

How do i replace the hinge on the hotpoint tumble dryer. I have taken the old hinge out it had sheered off. The pins are out but how do i get the new hinge in . It dosent look like the little lugs where the hinge fit comes off unless I'm just being thick

yea the reason those plates are separate from the machine body is in case the screws seize due to corrosion from water etc, that way you can just replace the threaded backplate if the screw shears off. otherwise the bust screw(s) would be sheared in the machine body... i bonded the backplates to the machine with silicone the time i snapped my door off in case i did it again

Thank you,

I had the same sinking feeling when I unscrewed the hinge and heard the "kerplunk" of the hinge backing plate falling to the floor inside the machine.

You'd think that plate would be connected there?

There is a special place in Satan's playground for engineers that create these situations.

relating to this question I have the same problem with my Creda 1000 (wish I had read this before unscrewing the hinge from outside the machine) The plate holding the screws in fell down the back ( I assume that was the noise I heard when I took the 2 screws out) My hubby then proceeded to take the screws out of the lock part that the lock clips into when the door shuts (this was to try and get the front of the machine off to retrieve the part that had fallen off from the old hinge from the inside of the machine)!! The same thing happened. I assume that when I get into the back of the machine I will be able to put both hinge and lock parts together from there.? Is it quite straightforward if 2 of us are doing it?

Steve, if you haven't fixed it already. Then here goes. This applies to the Hotpoint Aquarius 1000. Switch off and disconnect the plug to the machine. Get access to and unscrew 3 screws on the lid at the rear of the machine. The lid slides backward and remove. Down the inside at the front of the machine you'll see a grey piece of metal which the hinge screws screw into. Whilst holding this piece, unscrew the screws holding the hinge and remove the broken hinge. Pull out the grey piece of metal. To replace the hinge you'll need to unscrew 5 screws from the back of the door. Insert a flat bladed screw driver between the outer joins of the plastic door and gently prize apart. Put a new hinge (about £15) into the plastic holders and reassemble the door. This is where your third hand comes in handy as you hold the grey piece of metal on the inside with one hand, whilst holding the door assembly with new hinge up to the machine and screw the 2 hinge screws in.
