Mend Bell & Howell 644

How do I I replace the worm wheel on my Bell & Howell 644 16mm projector??

It appears it would make it easier to get at if I first removed the flywheel. Is this the case and if so, how does one remove the flywheel? I have removed the film drum and the circlip in the shaft but, although this is now loosened, there is still an obstruction preventing the shaft and flywheel from being withdrawn.
