Mend Potterton Statesman Boiler

Potterton Statesman Flowsure Plus Locked Out?

I have a Potterton Statesman flowsure plus oil fired boiler, unfortunately I let it run out of oil on monday, after having my oil tank filled today the boiler still won't start up and the lock out light remains on, I have tried resetting it and it makes noises like it is going to light up but then just locks out again. I'm not sure if this is due to an airlock or something else, and help would be greatly appreciated as I am freezing and desperately in need of a shower

yeah this happens to me reglaury,,,,,,,its very easy,,its just got a air lock on fuel line,,,,TURN OFF POWER TO BOLIER FIRST,,,,,remove the burner from the boiler,,,,its held in on top of burner by one bolt,,,,,,turn off fuel line and follow fuel pipe to the burner,,,,,remove fuel nossel from burner and gentle release fuel through,,,do it gentley or it spout out like a fountain,,,,,,,,i catch a little with a cloth,,turn off fuel line and insert back into burner,,,,,wipe down burner of any excese fuel,,,then replace burner to boiler making sure its fiited properly,,,,open fuel line press reheat button,,,and step back bolier should fire immediatley,,,,if it doesnt turn on fuel line,,,,,,or repeat process again,,,,,,,you just lost the fuel in the pipe when you put it back in the burner

Yes your burner will certainly be arilocked, the startup you are hearing is the 12 second purge before firing.

Assuming it has the riello burner fitted, open the hex key on the flat round lh side of the burner 90% out not all the way!(place a bowl underneath) press the burner rest button and allow it to run (twice or thrice only) you should see the oil bubble at first the flow out the hex bolt, and the burner should fire. tighten it back up and off you go.

On some boilers where the supply tank is a long way away it may lockout again a few mins later if there is more air in the oil line, just repeat the process.
