Mend Briggs & Stratton Classic 35 Carburetor Engine

How can I fix my Briggs and Stratton Classic 35 on a Sovereign lawnmower?

My lawnmower ran intermittently last year i.e. ran but the engine would not idle at a constant speed, up and down. Just tried starting it for the first cut this year and now it wont start.
I assume there is no timing, as such, and that it has a fixed jet carb but don't want to start messing about with it until I know where to start. I'm thinking a dirty carb? Anyone got any ideas? Very grateful. Thanks.

Take out the the spark plug ,change it or try cleaning first.

The diaphragm is the problem. £3.00 off ebay ,cheap and quite easy to fix. A very common fault on Briggs and Stratton Sprint/Classic engines

Change the spark plug - They do replacements at Homebase for £4 and add some redex to the petrol. Give it about 10 pumps on the red button and off you go.

Decided to bite the bullet and strip the thing to bits. I don't have a manual, just a bit of archaic knowledge on engines. As presumed, I'm fairly sure mine was a carb issue. After a good clean out, it all went back together pretty easily, started first pull and is running fine. If I find a manual then I'll certainly forward it or it's location on. Cheers.

No Idea on fixing it i am affraid , but i am actually looking for a user manuel for the Sovereign Classic 35 model NG484,is that the one you have mate?
If so do you know where i can download it or if not any chance we could sort something out on getting a copy off you if you have ?
