ford cougar 2000 noisey first minutes of the day only?

My friends cougar has become very noisey when puling away in the morning, it doesnt sound like the engine but it is very noisey, a screetchy cat wailing sound, happening as the clutch goes in and the steering wheel is turned for the first time. It is parked on a hill over night if this might have some bearing? It had a service yesterday and they never heard it as it is only the first start of the day, although not very helpful they did suggest it could be a pulley in the steering. Does this make sense to anyone and if so what can be done?
