Mend Craftsman 7-1/4 Turn Started Spinning

Why does my Craftsman Circular Saw turn backwards?

I have a Craftsman 7-1/4 Circular saw, that just started spinning counter clockwise. It pretty much chews up the top surface of that nice 3/4" Oak plywood I just bought. Any ideas?

might be the blade was installed backward (a trick to cut plywood with less chipping) OR its possible the wires inside need inspection to see if one has disconnected and the ground is now hot (if that is possible.)

Jim. The saw is suppose to turn counter clockwise. If it turned clockwise it would want to climb out and on top of the the material that you are cutting. To keep from tearing up the good side of the wood, turn it over and place the good side down.
