Zanussi FLA1001W - Why does my belt keep coming off?

the belt off the motor and drum wheel came off, I removed the back and replaced the belt. However after 2 or 3 revs the belt comes off again. What is worrying is the motor drive and the wheel are misaligned by about 1/2 an inch - is this normal. This seems to make the belt come off. Has the drum moved and hence pushed the drive wheel out of alignment - is this a comon fault maybe related to bearings. I cannot phisically move the wheel in or out or the motor shaft in or out. The misalignment is fixed. How do I fix?

Is the misalignment normal?
The bearings are fine I check them last night - there is no movement at all. Is the misalignment by design? i.e.would a new belt stay on - only one way to find out I suppose.

sounds like you main drum bearings have collapse.can you lift the inner stainless drum up and down horizontally?.if so then bearings for sure.
