Mend IKEA Wires Ceiling Red

which wires go where?

My brother is trying to fix an IKEA ceiling light but is confused about the wires. The wires from the house mains have one black and one red wire. The Ikea light has one brown wire and one white wire. Does anyone know which wire connects to which.
