When i turn my phone a white screen keeps flashing on and off, the only way to turn it off is by taking the battery out.

Your phone needs a software upgrade and this is something best left to professionals as you needs to match the correct phone CID colour/number with the correct software, also you need specialist tools like Cruiser or SE Tool3.
