I would also suspect poor compressions. Do a compression test on the engine.Check valve clearances, breather pipes not blocked that sort of basic checks before spending money.

If the carburettor on your Fiesta is the VV type, the most likely problem is the automatic choke is not shutting off correctly.
Either replace the carburettor or fit a manual choke conversion.
If you are going to replace the carburettor, you should buy a Weber conversion kit which comes with all you need including a choke cable.
