Mend Whirlpool LST7233AN Washer Load Model

smoking motor on Whirlpool Washer LST7233AN?

Just put on a load of clothes in my Whirlpool model #LST7233AN and smelled smoke coming from it. It cut off. I unplugged it and the odor subsided. Now I plugged it back in and spun the water out. Any ideas on what it is? Do we need a new washer?

Hi,
It sounds like the motor may be on its way out. When they go bad they sometimes overheat and then cutout and then can run again for a few minutes before cutting out again.
