Warm water, no HW pilot, but CH works?

I turned off the timers for a weekend whilst away, now the hot water is warm but wont get hot, and I think it's only warm because of the CH.

I have a Potterton Netaheat 10-16, and the pilot light doesn't come on when only HW is turned on. The thermostat on the boiler is set to max. The thermostat on HW tank is at 65 degrees. No settings have changed.

I live in a flat, so I think it's an unvented indirect non-gravity fed system (I'm a novice and been reading Collin's DIY so I could be wrong on the terminology). HW tank is sealed in insulated box and not easy to get to the top.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated! :)

OK, I've just found the valves, two of them. Both have manual override levers. I tried combinations of none, one and both of them being set to manual, at no point did the pilot light attempt ignition.

Both levers moved smoothly with no real effort, and both 'wound' back to the automatic position when not locked into manual.

Do you think this rules out valves as the problem? What are the other options?

Thanks,

Dan.

Thanks very much for that answer, presumably the pump & valves are inside the boiler? Would the failure of a valve result in the pilot light not even attempting to light?

Thanks again,

Dan.

you will have motorised valves which the timer and thermostat will open ,these will be located near the pump,it sounds like one for the hot water as failed in the closed position. some manufacturers of theses valve fit a little lever that allows the valve to be manually opened ,if you can locate this lever and put it in the manual position then you will at least get the cylinder heated when you select central heating , lower the boiler temperature to half or less till you get the hot water motorised valve repaired/replaced.
