my car wont start?

fiat punto 60s r-reg my car has been standing for 4 months before i had it from a friend . it tries to start cut cuts out. its had new battery , reconditioned starter motor, new spark plugs.

(Carefully! - avoiding electrics!) pour hot water over the inlet manifold, immediately prior to starting it. Sceptical? This trick has helped me start many vehicles. I haven't damaged a vehicle yet, but obviously dont get water *inside* the inlet manifold/carburettor/air intake, etc., nor on electrical items.
