Mend Ideal Classic Boiler Fire

ideal classic ff250?

I have a ideal classic boiler model ff 250 and from time to time it will not fire up it just makes a clicking noise.then fires up ok but it seems to be getting worse.
can you help as all the plumbers say let it break then they will no what to fix.........
But its not hem who will have no heating or hot water

Sounds like either the gas valve or soleniods are on the way out, assuming the clicking you are hearing it the igniter sparking
