It's most likely one of three things. Gas, Air, or Spark.
(1) Check to make sure the fuel system is clean and is feeding gas to the carb. Check the settings on the carb. I set mine at 1 round out from the closed position and then make final adjustments. You should consider a new Walbro carb kit for the Wa 199 carb. Just put in new diaphrams and don't mess with the metering lever if its not worn. It takes a professional and the proper tool to set the metering lever and I'm not very good at that myself.
(2) Make sure the air filter is clean so air can get to the carb. for proper air/fuel mix.
(3) Remove the spark plug from the engine block and reinsert it into the spark plug lead wire. Hold the tip of the spark plug to the engine block to ground it and pull the started handle. See if a spark jumps across the tip of the electrode. If it does not replace with a new plug and try again. It uses a Champion RCJ-8Y. If it still does not fire you probable have a bad coil or lead wire. Be sure to clean all electrical connections and coil and test again for fire.
These are the basics. If it still won't run after checking the three above it could have low compression. You may want to keep this one for parts and get you another one of the same model with good compression off of ebay. My buddy found one of this model today that someone had thrown out on the trash pile. I got it running with not too much problem and it has a lot of power. The head was loose and would not spin and it would not keep running. I just cleaned the carb and readjusted to one round out on the high and low mixture settings. Someone had both settings at 1/2 round out and it was not getting enough fuel. Also, I tightened the head with an allen wrench. Its running pretty good now but still needs slight carb tuning for my satisfaction. Good luck with your trimmer. Dennis.
