Mend CITROEN XSARA Engine Head Gasket

1999 CITROEN XSARA ENGINE NOISE?

I HAVE JUST DONE THE HEAD GASKET ON MY 1.4 XSARA AND WHEN I STARTED IT UP THE NOISE COMING FROM WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE TAPPETS IS UNBEARABLE .IT SOUNDS AS IF I HAVE PUT THE TIMING BELT ON WRONG BUT I HAVE CHECKED AND CHECKED THIS TO NO AVAIL.ITS AS IF THE TAPPETS ARE RUNNING DRY BUT THEY ARE COVERED IN OIL .I DONT SEE HOW TAKING THE HEAD OFF AGAIN WILL HELP ANY
PLEASE HELP

If they are hydralic tappets and are like the Ford Escorts they have to be filled manually. I change head on Escort and had same problem until given above advice.
